The film maker was brilliant to portray the back story of this Passion Play–the lives of those who made it, and what they were learning from the experience, and how they were transformed. I was impressed by the brilliance of the director–a self-styled “humanist” with deep sensitivity– who was able to bring the best out of his actors. The quality of acting by these inmates was phenomenal: they deserve awards! I’d like to see this documentary shown on prime time TV and in every church, mosque and synagogue in America: it would blow away stereotypes and show that prison inmates are human beings, that they do change, and many of them have not only turned their lives around, they could be helping others to do so, if only we didn’t lock them up for life and thrown away the key. So much talent, so many gifts are being wasted by our draconian prison system. I pray that other wardens will learn from this film and that this will lead a drastic reform of our racist and inhumane criminal justice system.

No, it is God’s intent for everyone to see that God loves us all despite our circumstances, who we are, who we think we are. We are all the same; sinners in need of God’s amazing grace. He who is without sin, cast the first stone.
